At a remote video hearing in the high court, lawyers for the year-old argued that Ministry of Justice regulations preventing people hearing arguments about whether inmates should be released were illegal because they breached his right to a fair trial and started from the assumption that hearings should be in private.

He was kept in solitary most of the time, but Bronson found a way to still beat prison guards and other prisoners when he was let out.
Bronson continued to cause trouble no matter what prison he was sent to, and ended up trying to attempt suicide at one point. Changing his method from violent attacks to peaceful protests, Bronson switched between rooftop protests to hunger strikes to make his point heard.
But during his time in the psych hospitals, Bronson also started taking up art, winning awards for his pieces. After finally being released in , Bronson started a bare-knuckle boxing career. During this time, this is when he officially changed his name to Charles Bronson, after the actor.
He also robbed a jewelry store, left one ring for his girlfriend at the time, and sold the rest. Naturally, he ended up back in jail. Sentenced to another seven years, Bronson spent being transferred between prisons again for his usual violent antics. Once he arrived at Long Lartin, it seemed like he was finally settling down. Writing in his book Bronson, he said: "I'm a nice guy, but sometimes I lose all my senses and become nasty. That doesn't make me evil, just confused".
Bronson has changed his name a number of times, with his different titles defining certain periods in his life. The serial criminal was eventually released in , where he changed his name to Charles Bronson on the advice of his bare-knuckle boxing promoter. But it was not long before he was back in jail, after robbing a jewellery shop in and sentenced to seven more years inside. Bronson was released early from his sentence in - but was back behind bars 53 days later for intent to commit robbery.
After holding three men hostage in his cell, the Luton lad saw another seven years added to his sentence - although this was cut to five on appeal. Following further incidents, he was finally given a life sentence after kidnapping a prison teacher in , causing destruction to the prison.
Agter being held at a number of prisons across the country - including the likes of Broadmoor and Belmarsh - he returned to HM Prison Woodhill in , where Bronson is currently incarcerated. In , he insisted that he will be out "sooner than a lot think".
