If he's shifting his eyes to the side, squints, or does some kind of subtle smirk, it's likely that he's lying. I recommend going over the log to reread what the person said, and then check your evidence to see if you can prove him wrong.
If you can't, go with doubt. It's best to choose Truth when you think the person has no reason to lie. You can usually tell when the person just looks straight ahead with a blank expression. In other words, if he's not making expressions, it's usually truth.
Most of the time it's pretty simple. Just take your time when reading the person's facial expression. If you absolutely can't figure out, use Intuition as a last resort. The only misleading part is when people don't answer your question directly, but make some kind of random statement vaguely related to your question.

If the person looks you in the eye without fidgeting or some hesitation, press the "Truth" button. Include your email address to get a message when this question is answered.
If you can't tell if a person is lying or not, but you still want to get the question right, use an Intuition point. You can choose "Remove an Answer", which removes one of the possibilities either Lie, Doubt or Truth so that two remain.
You could also use "Ask the community". This will tell you what other people chose, and there will almost always be a majority. For example, after "Ask the community" is chosen, the options would be the percentages of how many people said what, for example, Truth 9. You can see that more people chose "Doubt".
